Steelers Martavis Bryant Facing Four-Game Suspension
The Pittsburgh Steelers already have to start the 2015 season without running back Le'Veon Bell, who will miss the first two games for an August, 2014, arrest on DUI and marijuana possession charges.
Now, they will likely be without the services of wide receiver Martavis Bryant as well. On Thursday, ESPN learned that Bryant is facing a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.
A pending appeal could reduce the ban, but ESPN's Adam Schefter thinks the suspension will stand at four games. Bryant, 23, hopes to get word on his appeal within the next week to 10 days.
After being selected in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, Bryant recorded 26 receptions for 549 yards and eight touchdowns during a solid rookie season with the Steelers.
With 21.1 yards per reception, Bryant was only the second rookie wide receiver since 1995 to gain more than 20 yards per catch with a minimum of 25 receptions.
After two more pre-season games, including their meeting with the Buffalo Bills on Saturday, the Steelers will kick off their 2015 season against the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots on September 10.
