Fresno State Football Player Cut After Death Threats

Freshman Chris Pryor says it was all a prank.

Fresno State's football team took a threat against its school seriously.

One day after Chris Pryor threatened on social media to carry out a shooting at the school, the team cut the freshman wide receiver Tuesday, as reported by TMZ Sports.

"Chris Pryor was a walk-on freshman football player for us. Up until this incident we had no negative dealings with him on or off the field," Fresno State football coach Tim DeRuyter told TMZ.

"When we were alerted of this yesterday we took the threat seriously. We worked with the Fresno State Police Department to contact Chris. As a result of Chris' actions, he has immediately been dismissed from our football program."

This comes after Pryor took to his social media Monday, posting a picture of the school's campus with an accompanying caption that read: "the time is here. @3PM I will release my frustrations. Tired of dirty looks, get rejected, nd being talked about bc how I dress. My choice of weapon M4 Carbine."

He added: "I will take a headshot at a hot blonde."

Pryor's father, Gene Hopkins, told TMZ that his son was just "fooling around" and that the whole thing had been "blown out of proportion."

"That was just a prank that got out of hand," Hopkins said. "He was trying to delete it and it got posted accidentally. Christian's a good kid, good athlete, a student. He's never been in any trouble, he doesn't own any weapons, I think it was just a Halloween prank that went bad."

Well, Fresno State didn't see it as a prank at all, sacking the freshman from its football program.
