Ex-Raider Anthony Smith Convicted of Three Murders

Former defensive end faces life in prison without parole.

Sacked.

Former Oakland Raiders defensive end Anthony Smith was found guilty Thursday of murdering three men following his retirement in 1998, the New York Daily News reported. The 48-year-old is now facing life in prison without parole.

Smith was convicted in the stabbing homicide of a man in 2001 and the shooting deaths of two brothers two years prior to that in 1999.

Although prosecutors allege that all three men were kidnapped and tortured before Smith killed them, the ex-NFL player's lawyer says he'll appeal the convictions, citing the evidence was insufficient and his client didn't have any motive to go through with the murders.

Smith played for the Raiders from 1991 to 1997, racking up 57 1/2 sacks.
