There was a time that Adrien Broner referred to Floyd Mayweather Jr. as his big brother in the boxing game, proudly rolling with the undefeated champion's Money Team.
Well, those days might be over.
Broner and Mayweather have been exchanging words lately... and it's getting messy.
Responding to Broner recently telling Showtime, "f*** the Money Team," and that he only rocks with Floyd, Mayweather told FightHype.com that if anything, Broner should be thanking the Money Team and everything they've done for him over the years, adding that he "has a lot of growing up to do."
"Instead of saying, ‘f*** the Money Team,’ he needs to be thanking the Money Team because, at the end of the day, [boxing adviser/manager] Al Haymon is a part of the Money Team…Everything is under the same umbrella when it’s all said and done," Mayweather said. "If you saying, ‘f*** Al Haymon,’ you saying, ‘f*** Floyd Mayweather!’ If you saying, ‘f*** Floyd Mayweather,’ you saying, ‘f*** Al Haymon!’”
Upon hearing Mayweather's response, Broner told TMZ Sports that for the undefeated retired champion to rip him in public was some "gay a** s***" and advised him to "quit playing with me."
Apparently the tension sparked after Broner lost to Shawn Porter in June and inexplicably called out TMT fighter Ashley Theophane, tacking on the "f*** the Money Team" comment.
Will these two be able to patch this up?
