Marshawn Lynch Sends Special Gift to Mom of Slain High Schooler
When Marshawn Lynch learned of a Sacramento high school student's death earlier last month, the NFL running back did something very special. Lynch sent the teen’s mother a Seattle Seahawks jersey with her son's name and football number on the back.
J.J. Clavo, 17, was gunned down Nov. 13, hours before he was set to play in a playoff football game near his high school. Clavo's funeral was held over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
His death remains unsolved. “I don’t get to have those festive dinners with my son anymore,” said his mother, Nicole, of spending the holidays without her son. “I won’t get to share those festive holidays with my son anymore. That has been taken from me.“
Lynch heard about Clavo’s story through Sacramento native Quan Thompson, his former Cal teammate. Thompson, who went to the same high school as Clavo, put up photos of the one-of-a-kind Seahawks jersey along with a shout out to Lynch.
