South Side lean in.
Chance the Rapper is representing the South Side of the Chi to the fullest, having been tabbed by the Chicago White Sox to redesign their hats.
The move would be a way for the White Sox to appeal to a younger market.
For starters, the team unleashed three new Chance-designed White Sox hats, making a limited supply of 2,000 being available during the club's home opener on Friday.
Check them out.
The move more than makes sense with Chance always rocking a White Sox hat and being a native of Chicago's notorious South Side.
The 22-year-old MC will throw out the first pitch Friday and has even recorded the team's ballpark introduction video.
"For anyone over 28 years old, they're thrilled that [Hall of Famer] Frank Thomas is back with us [as a special consultant]," Brook Boyer, the White Sox's senior vice president of sales and marketing, told ESPN. "But we want to talk to those who are even younger, to develop interest from the Hispanic and the African-American markets. Chance resonates with them."
Clap for Chance.
