[Watch] Kendrick Lamar's Spoken Word Tribute to Kobe Bryant
Down to his final game, the tributes just keeping rolling in for Kobe Bryant.
The latest is from one LA king to another.
Kendrick Lamar recently sat down and performed a video tribute for the retiring five-time NBA champion off a piece written by ESPN's Robert "Scoop" Jackson.
Titled "Kobe Bryant: Fade to black," K. Dot waxes poetic on the video over the sounds of his "untitled 07 | levitate" track: "Growing up watching him paint murals, using this building [the old Forum] as his first studio, using LA as his canvas. Restoring crowns back to where they belong under rows of banners. Purple and Gold...the color of royalty. Our one-man LA King."
He adds later in the clip: "All season has been his goodbye. Him to us. Us to him. To the whole world."
This is too dope.
Just as Kendrick alluded to, hoop fans will say their last on-court goodbye to the legend, when he plays his final game Wednesday night with his Los Angeles Lakers hosting the Utah Jazz at the Staples Center.
What a surreal moment that's going to be.
