Usually when athletes gets slimed at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports Awards, they're covered in the slick, green mess. Not Kobe Bryant, though.
Honoring Kobe with its Legend Award, Nickelodeon made sure to douse the Black Mamba in gold slime. It's fitting, considering Kobe won five NBA championships playing for the Purple and Gold Los Angeles Lakers.
Just as he did upon receiving the Icon Award at the ESPYs on Wednesday night, Kobe made an inspirational speech... just for a younger crowd.
“It seems like it was yesterday I was your guys’ age and I had a dream, I had ambition for being one of the greatest basketball players of all time,” Bryant said accepting the Legend Award at the taped show Thursday, as reported by Variety. “And through hard work and dedication that dream came true.”
He added: "But I want to tell you guys something to be mindful of — when you have a dream the one thing you need to watch out for are those that are trying to crush your dream. You cannot allow that to happen. I challenge you to go out there and be legendary in your own right."
Nickelodeon's Kids’ Choice Sports Awards is scheduled to air Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET.
