Watch: Colin Kaepernick Makes His Long Awaited Return to the Field

And here's how fans reacted.

Colin Kaepernick today (October 16) made his return to the football field after an injury kept him on the sidelines, and much like his protest movement, the quarterback was met with a mixed reaction from fans.

When he showed up to the stadium boldly rocking a Muhammad Ali t-shirt, the 49ers QB was greeted with both applause and criticism, much like he has been experiencing all summer, being at the center of a national discussion surrounding equality.

During his return to the field, Kaepernick had some rusty moments, such as not committing a single turnover. However, he did throw his first touchdown pass since October 18, 2015, almost a year to the date, as well as threw for 187 yards and ran eight times for 66 yards.

While the 49ers lost to the Bills 45-16, judging from Kaepernick's history in the game, he's going to warm up in no time and get back to where he left off after his lengthy hiatus.

Off the field, fans continued to discuss the player's peaceful and controversial protest, with some carrying signs in support of his actions, while other people in attendance had t-shirts available for sale showing a target on Kaepernick's chest, calling him a "notorious disgrace to America."

Like it or not, he's back!
