Black Fathers: Russell Wilson Gushes About Marrying Ciara and Being a Stepdad

He describes Cici's walk down the aisle like a '90s R&B singer.

Russell Wilson is still definitely feeling the post-wedding glow after he and longtime girlfriend Ciara tied the knot last week. For Wilson, marrying Ciara also means he is now the stepfather of 2-year-old Future Wilburn, which he describes as one of the many highlights to marrying the R&B singer.

Wilson spoke to People magazine to gush over his new family.

He spoke to People to further promote his upcoming stint as host for the Kids' Choice Sports Awards and while he did discuss his upcoming job he couldn't help but gush about his wife and stepson.

"I'll tell you, the best part of the wedding was watching her walk down the aisle. I had so many [thoughts], but to see her gracefully walk down the aisle in that long train... and to realize I was going to spend the rest of my life with her gives me chills," the NFL star said. "Ever since the first day I met her, she's always been, honestly, my best friend. We've been so close."

He continued by speaking about the other addition to his family, baby Future. "I think ultimately, the one thing I can say about being a stepdad and any person that's a parent — but especially when you come into a new situation — the key is loving the child as your own," he explained. "That's the biggest thing."

He also did more than just hint that the newlyweds plan on making Future a big brother, saying, "I want to have a bunch of kids — me and Ci do... Ciara's such a great mom. She reads to him every night. I read to him too, and we just share so many special moments together."

It sounds as though the marriage could not be getting off to a better start.
