High School Basketball Coach Starts a GoFundMe Page for Player Whose Family Lost Everything in a House Fire

Thankfully, Cameron Snow's fam is OK, but they need financial assistance to build their lives back.

High school coaches often mean more to teenagers than just someone barking out orders at them.

That's especially true at Danbury High School in Connecticut.

When the school's basketball coach, Casey Bock, learned that one of his players, Cameron Snow, and his family lost all of their possessions in a house fire on March 12, he called on the entire Hatter/Danbury community and beyond to help the junior.

Bock launched a GoFundMe page, entitled the "Snow Family Emergency Fire Fund," explaining what had happened to Snow and calling for help.

"Cameron and his family had an unfortunate event of a house fire Sunday morning (3/12).  Thankfully, everyone is doing well, but everything was lost due to smoke damage," he wrote on the page, as reported by the Danbury Daily Voice. "I have had the pleasure of coaching Cameron. Cameron is a very hard working, dedicated and talented student-athlete for the Hatters. The best part of being Cameron’s coach is I am able to witness Cameron become a young adult that is a role model for younger kids (he is one of my five- and six-year-old's favorite player)."

Bock added, "Cameron has a great, strong family that can be seen supporting him and the team at each game. It is now time for the Hatter/Danbury community to support the Snow family during this tough time."

The caring, extra step of effort resulted in $9,790 (and counting) in donations, nearly doubling the goal of $5,000.

We hope the donations help Cameron and his family rebuild their lives.

Salute to coach Bock on the assist ... one that Cameron will likely never forget.
