Russell Westbrook Lied About His Wife's Birthday to Get Free Dessert, and It Looks Good
You've got to be somewhat of a savage to average a triple-double for the entire season the way that Russell Westbrook did this year, joining Oscar Robertson as the only two players in NBA history to accomplish that feat.
But Russ's No-Fs-given style extends off the court, too.
Last night, the Oklahoma City Thunder's All-Star point guard and arguable front-runner to win the NBA MVP lied about his wife's birthday to a restaurant just to get a free dessert.
"This is what happens when you come to the restaurant, you're trying to get a free dessert. You lie, tell 'em it's your wife's birthday," Westbrook said, as part of his pregnant wife Nina's Snapchat story. "Haha, woo! Happy birthday, sugar! You got free dessert babe!"
Having pocketed $26.5 million this season, Westbrook obviously didn't need to pull this stunt, but did so anyway ... and people loved him for it.
Here's the Snapchat of Russ finessing the restaurant and all the ways people adored him for it. Nina's reaction, though? Priceless.
Watch Westbrook Pull This Off With Ease
Even though his Thunder have been eliminated from the playoffs, Russ just recorded another steal. And this play was an instant fan-favorite.
People Immediately began dying laughing
Just ... why?
Yes, The Thunder's Postseason Is Over, but #BrodieSZN continues
Long live Brodie!
As far as many were concerned, this dessert finessing put Russ over the top for MVP
No more debating. Russ is your MVP. Sorry, James Harden.
That being said, there were those that didn't find the humor in this
The latter tweet refers to Westbrook being eligible to sign a five-year, super max extension worth over $200 million with the Thunder. Last summer, the dynamic point guard inked a three-year, $85 million extension with OKC.
But People Drowned Out Any Hate With More Laughter
Come on ... people have to find the humor in the free-dessert play. It's too funny.
That and the tip he left was probably lit!
We bet the All-Star made one server's day.
Russ just might be the most popular baller in the NBA today
He can do no wrong.
