Jimmy Butler Wrote This Emotional Letter to Chicago After the Bulls Traded Him on Draft Night

"You've been my life!"

The Chicago Bulls trading Jimmy Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves headlined the news coming out of the 2017 NBA Draft last night.

The move totally caught Butler by the surprise, as the three-time All-Star shooting guard reportedly is in Paris and learned about the news in the middle of the night.

Upon gathering himself, though, Jimmy Buckets took to his Instagram account and penned this heartfelt letter to Chicago, his home over the past six seasons. In it, Butler poignantly says that the city has been his "life."

"You've embraced me like a son and pushed me to get better every day, every season," Butler wrote. "I can honestly say that I have always been incredibly motivated to succeed. It's just the way I'm built. But I know I owe so much to the person I am now, and to the player that I've become, to you."

And that was just part of it. You can read Jimmy's entire emotional letter to Chi-Town below.

Beautiful words.

Statistically speaking, this past 2016-17 season was Butler's best year yet, as the 27-year-old boasted career-highs in points (23.9), rebounds (6.2) and assists (5.5) per game.

He'll bring veteran leadership to a youthful T-Wolves core, which includes Karl-Anthony Towns, 21, and Andrew Wiggins, 22. In addition, the trade reunites him with T-Wolves coach Tom Thibodeau, who formerly coached the Bulls from 2010-15.
