Here's Why Some People Are Dragging Serena Williams for Saying Giving Birth Will Make Her a 'Real Woman'

"So, if you don't have kids you're not a real woman?"

Serena Williams is due to become a mother for the first time, slated to give birth next month.

But the legendary tennis player is finding herself in the crosshairs of some people for controversial comments she made recently. Appearing on the cover of Ireland-based Stellar magazine, Williams said that she's "about to be a real woman" via having her first child.

“I have so much respect for so many women [for giving birth]," the 35-year-old told the publication, showing off her pronounced baby bump on the cover. "I am about to be a real woman now, you know? It’s going to be something incredibly impressive to go through.”

That "real woman" remark didn't sit right with some people, who chose to drag the tennis GOAT and let her know that she's out of bounds.

  • Here's Serena gracing the cover of 'Stellar'

That "real woman" remark definitely irked some.

  • People's reactions immediately ranged from shock to flat out questioning Serena that are those who don't have kids not real women?

And the dragging was just beginning.

  • Others resorted to clapping back at the tennis legend and letting her know that having children doesn't make you a 'real woman' at all

Damn, they're sending backhand shots to Serena's side of the court quickly.

  • And for clarification, by the same token, people told Serena that you can be a "real woman" without ever having kids

Sorry, Serena, but those are #Facts.

  • There are heavy implications to Serena's comments and her fans had to tell her that

Hard to argue against this point.

  • And the disappointment was evident

Not a good look is right.

  • Others wondered if Serena stands by her comments after this

Damn, Serena. You walked into all of this.

  • Just for the record, people wanted Serena to fully understand ...

Very true. You were Superwoman before and will be Superwoman after and it doesn't have anything to do with you giving birth.
