Kevin Durant Blasted 'Bum Ass ESPN' for Its Mock Auction and Odell Beckham Jr. Was 'Speechless'

Looks like they were inspired by "Get Out" in the worst way.

ESPN caught heat and was dragged to hell and back over yesterday's Fantasy Football mock auction, which showed a sea of white male owners bidding on NFL stars such as Odell Beckham Jr. and Antonio Brown. That's racially insensitive to the 10th power.

By the time the backlash hit a fever pitch, the "Worldwide Leader in Sports" issued the following apology statement, as reported by CNN.

"Auction drafts are a common part of fantasy football, and ESPN's segments replicated an auction draft with a diverse slate of top professional football players. Without that context, we understand the optics could be portrayed as offensive, and we apologize."

Still, that apology didn't stop Kevin Durant, Beckham himself, and a host of people on Twitter from bashing the network for inexplicably and disturbingly replicating a scene out of Get Out on live, daytime television. Here's how they trashed ESPN.

  • KD definitely didn't pull any punches, calling the network 'Bum ass ESPN' for thinking up this terrible idea and then airing it

The 2017 NBA Finals MVP definitely let ESPN have it ... and there was more where that came from.

  • And Durant kept firing shots at the 'worldwide leader in sports'

    DAMN!

  • And when asked what he thought about being included in ESPN's mock auction, Odell Beckham Jr. himself was rendered 'speechless'

There are levels to how bad this is. First, the staff at ESPN had to think this up, then give it the green light and finally air it. And during each step, not one person thought this was an egregiously insensitive idea? Bruh!

  • And the tweets about ESPN taking a page out of 'Get Out' keep coming in full force

    Unreal. Do better.
