Tearing Up the Scene

On the BMX side of action sports, newcomer Chad Kerley is already carving out his own path. Fresh off his gold medal win in the BMX Street competition at X Games Asia in May — his first X Games appearance — he took the silver medal on Friday's street competition in Los Angeles.  Kerley, who currently rides for Nike, started racing bikes at the tender age of four. Wanting to escape from racing's intensity and pressure, the 18-year-old switched gears four years ago to freestyle, a genre he seems to have down to a science.
