Jimmy The Greek Uses Slave Times to Explain Black Athletes
When it comes to racist moments in sports, perhaps Jimmy “The Greek” Snyder’s comments were most heinous. A former CBS commentator, Snyder made viewers cringe back in 1988 when he said that “the only thing left for the whites is a couple of coaching jobs” because Blacks are dominating as athletes. Wait…it got worse. He brought up slave times in explaining why he thinks Black athletes are superior to white athletes. "The slave owner would breed his big black (man) to his big woman so that he could have a big black kid...That's where it all started.” Disgusting. CBS fired him. Snyder died years later of a heart attack in 1996.
