What does the future hold for Jim Harbaugh and others?

Several Coaches May Not Be Back for Another Season - The first day after the end of each NFL regular season is referred to as “Black Monday” for all the coaches who get fired. With a month left in the 2014 regular season, already critics have named head coaches like Jim Harbaugh (San Francisco 49ers), Rex Ryan (New York Jets) and Lovie Smith (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) on the hot seat in jeopardy of losing their head coaching jobs. BET.com reviews their cases and points out several more NFL coaches who are likely to get the pink slip at the end of this season. Jim Harbaugh, San Francisco 49ers - After leading the San Francisco 49ers to three straight NFC title games, can this be Jim Harbaugh’s final season at the helm of the red and gold? It sure seems like it. After the Niners lost to their rival Seattle Seahawks on Thanksgiving night, San Francisco owner Jed York apologized to fans and called the 19-3 loss unacceptable. That surely doesn’t help Harbaugh’s cause in staying in San Fran. Barring a playoff berth and deep post-season run, we firmly expect Harbaugh to get the ax. Good thing for him, he’s still a damn good coach, one that will be sought after. If you’re the New York Jets or Oakland Raiders and searching for an identity, it’d be wise to throw the keys to Harbaugh and let him revive your organization from the top down. Marc Trestman, Chicago Bears - Marc Trestman or Jay Cutler has to go. How else could you explain having offensive firepower like Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery, Martellus Bennett and Matt Forte yet be 21st in the NFL in scoring with a dismal 5-7 record? There’s a disconnect here. No wonder Marshall was calling out Cutler back in October. If that locker room is indeed chaotic, it's all the more reason Trestman might get that pink slip. Tom Coughlin, New York Giants - Tom Coughlin’s run with the New York Giants has mostly been impressive with Super Bowl wins in 2007 and 2011, but the last few seasons have left a lot to be desired with Big Blue faithful. In 2012, the G-Men went 9-7 and failed to make the playoffs. Last season, the Giants finished 7-9 and are a putrid 3-9 currently. Guaranteed another losing year, the Giants can handle Coughlin in one of three ways: Fire him, give him the dignity of stepping down or keep him for another season and hope for the best. As good of a coach that Coughlin has been, our guts lean toward one of the first two options or retirement. (Photo: Al Bello/Getty Images)

Rex Ryan, New York Jets - Rex Ryan knows what’s coming. The New York Jets basically saved his job with a strong push late last season. Well, there won’t be any kind of push this season with Gang Green suffering through a 2-10 record. Still, don’t be surprised to see Ryan get fired and land back on his feet with either a defensive coordinator position (Hello, Atlanta, Chicago, Tennessee) or another head coaching gig with a team like the Oakland Raiders or Chicago Bears. Rex still has legs in the league…just not with the Jets. That fuel has run its course and he’s a sitting duck. (Photo: Jeff Zelevansky/Getty Images)
