NBA All-Star Game Jerseys

A throwback look at the uniforms of the midseason classic.

NBA All-Star Game Jerseys  - Whether it be the player exclusive kicks, the introduction of baggy shorts or even something as subtle as a headband, NBA players have always lived up to the saying "look good, play good." Especially when it comes to the All-Star Game. The flyness, creativity and freedom that the players leave on the court is easily matched by the uniforms unleashed during the midseason classic. Take a look.(Photo: Thearon W. Henderson/Getty Images)

1991-94 - Home: WhiteAway: BlueFormer commissioner David Stern was never shy about letting you know just how great the NBA was, so what was more fitting than for the best players in the league to rock giant, iced out stars on their chests? This jersey was the wave for four years, but its most iconic moment was Orlando’s 1992 game when Magic Johnson crushed the Eastern Conference team with 25 points after coming back out of his retirement due to contracting HIV.(Photo: Timothy Clary/AFP/Getty Images)

The side panels on the jersey and shorts were true to the region too, but the colorways of aqua blue and white with black, silver and orange detailing took NBA jerseys to a new level of coolness.   (Photo: Paul Buck/AFP/Getty Images)

1997-2002 - Home: Team WhiteAway: Team AwayThe late '90s and early 2000s ushered in a new sense of individuality in the league and the jerseys echoed that idea. Everyone wore their respective team colors and had small stars on the shoulder to signify that they were All-Stars. Call it selfish if you want, but there were match ups and iconic moments that came in this era. None more special than 1998 at Madison Square Garden, when Michael Jordan and then first-time All- Star Kobe Bryant went at it with fans watching the proverbial passing of the torch.(Photos from Left: Brian Bahr/Getty Images, Alan Mothner /Landov)

2003 - Home: WhiteAway: RedMichael Jordan was preparing to walk away from the game again, this time on his own call, and one way the NBA honored the GOAT was by bringing back the colorways he came in with, but with modern tweaks. The big NBA insignia across the front of the jersey with the designated teams along the side of the shorts also spoke to the trends, as throwbacks were damn near a way of life in the early 2000s.(Photo: Jamie Squire/Getty Images)

2005 - Home: WhiteAway: BlueThe 2005 All Star game jerseys just missed the target all around. No color change, no eye catching fonts, no real creativity. Shaq won the MVP of the game that year. The Diesel makes everything look small, but those tiny all-star letters on his chest just didn’t work at all.(Photo: Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)

2006 - Home: White / RedAway: White / BlueThe 2006 rendition of the NBA All-Star Game jerseys weren’t bad. Being held in Houston, home of the Rockets, they went for the spaced-out theme. A definite A for effort on that and hey, they at least tried something new. Points for the name placement on these jersey with the overly large numbers on the back.(Photo: Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)

2007 - Home: White / RedAway: White / BlueLas Vegas played home to the All-Star Game in 2007 and the jerseys were better for it. Kobe Bryant took home an MVP award, but the uniforms were a true highlight. The gold piping along the lettering and numbers and the fonts reminiscent of the Vegas showroom culture would hold up even today. The diamond detailing along the side of the jerseys and shorts? Trill.(Photo: Jed Jacobsohn/Getty Images)

Channeling the mythical creature the host city is named for, the game day shorts featured a phoenix in flight with gold stripes for the home team and an ice blue version for the Eastern Conference team. The attention to detail is what put this jersey over the top.(Photo: Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)

2010 - Home: RedAway: BlueAll-Star Weekend is often called the NBA’s “Super Bowl.” It's nowhere near as important in terms of team success, but it is the one time of the year where all fans are watching one central game. Cowboys Stadium is known for its giant star in the middle of the field. So with it’s key feature being blocked off by the court, the design team at adidas put a giant star on the jerseys. Well played, Three Stripes. (Photo: zhang Jun/Xinhua /Landov)

2011 - Home: RedAway: BlueThese were one of the best jerseys ever done for NBA All-Star Game. Being held in Los Angeles, under the bright lights, the true red and true blue colors worked well with the ambiance. Taking hints from the past (blocked out lettering) and cues from the new (large stars along the shorts), these jerseys are what the game is about: excitement.(Photo: Jeff Gross/Getty Images)

2012 - Home: BlueAway: RedMaybe the NBA All-Star game should just be played in Orlando? Whatever it is about that city, the design team just seems to get it right. The way the colors fade from light to dark shows a lot of thought was put into the design in terms of shading and paneling.(Photo: Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)

2014 - Home: Red / BlueAway: Blue / Green There’s been lots of talk about the NBA pushing the jerseys with sleeves. Some players liked it, some didn’t. Fans were 50/50 on them, too. Both teams had specialized colorways, leaving room for the players sneaker brands to get funky. The East’s navy blue and neon green was a nod to the city’s electric culture. The West kept it regal with red, purple and gold piping.(Photo: Christian Petersen/Getty Images)
