Former NFL Players Allege League Supplied Narcotics to Players
In a lawsuit filed Tuesday against the NFL, a group of retired football players say the league illegally supplied them with dangerous narcotics and painkillers to numb their injuries and that led to medical complications later in their lives. "I was provided uppers, downers, painkillers, you name it while in the NFL," J.D. Hill, who played for seven years in the 1970s, said in a statement reported by ESPN. "I became addicted and turned to the streets after my career and was homeless. Never took a drug in my life, and I became a junkie in the NFL."
