Baseball Legend Don Zimmer Dead at 83

Don Zimmer, former player, manager and baseball icon, died Wednesday. He was 83. According to ESPN, Zimmer had been in a rehab center since having seven hours of heart surgery in mid-April. Zimmer’s 66-year baseball career included everything from being a teammate of Jackie Robinson on the only Brooklyn Dodgers team to win a World Series to coaching Derek Jeter in his many years as a coach for the New York Yankees dynasty. Zimmer was still working for the Tampa Bay Rays as a senior adviser when he died. Former Yankees manager Joe Torre told ESPN, "I hired him as a coach, and he became like a family member to me.”  (Photo: Elsa/Getty Images)
