Mariano Rivera Rescues and Renovates a New York Church
When Mariano Rivera retired from the New York Yankees in 2013, he said that he would focus on helping to rebuild the community. The former closer stayed true to his word as he spent about $3 million to restore a 107-year-old church for Refugio de Esperanza in New Rochelle, New York. Rivera’s wife Clara will serve as pastor for the Pentecostal congregation.
