Let There Be Eve... Ruff Ryders First Lady - Eve hit the jackpot in 1999 with the smash "Love Is Blind." The song chronicled the good, bad and the extremely ugly aspects of romance and gave strength to women everywhere that needed to end absuive relationships that they were in. This put Eve on the map. Scorpion - Artist: Eve Year: 2001E-V-E built on her dope rookie album with a polished sophomore project that won over both pop fans and fellow skirted pit bulls. (See: “That’s What It Is,” featuring Styles P.) The Ruff Ryders First Lady’s increased ambition paid off, as she nabbed a Grammy for the hit Gwen Stefani collaboration “Let Me Blow Your Mind” and made the Scorpion’s catchy lead single, “Who’s That Girl?” the most rhetorical query of 2001.(Photo: Interscope)

The Rundown: Eve, Lip Lock - 11 years. It's almost hard to believe, but that's how long it's been since Eve released an album. Yes, she was mired in the same Aftermath Entertainment vaccuum that Rakim, Last Emperor and others slipped into in the early 2000s. And she did have a bit of an acting career to attend to. But it's still a shockingly long hiatus from the game, and one we've never gotten an explanation for. No matter: Her long-rumored, long-delayed new album, Lip Lock, finally dropped today and we're listening. Eve's still rocking skirts, but is she still a pitbull? Read our track-by-track review of her new album to find out. —Alex Gale (Photo: From the Rib Music)
