Chance the Rapper - Refreshingly, Chance has no qualms about admitting he's copied the style of fellow rappers. He told MTV, "I went through my Kanye phase, went through my Eminem phase, my Lil Wayne phase, my Andre [3000] phase." And now that he's coming into his own, he's been selected to open a few European dates for Em and even had a sit down at Shady Records for a possible deal. Whilst the paper pushers bid for his signature, a song with the label head would be sweet.(Photo: Matthew Eisman/Getty Images)

Entering Hip Hop - Growing up, Chance didn't listen to hip hop and was heavily into soul and jazz. It wasn't until Kanye West's 2004 debut album that Chance the Rapper found inspiration in hip hop. (Photo: Matthew Eisman/Getty Images)

Chance the Rapper - Chance the Rapper was an unknown in 2012, yet in 2013, he released what many praised as one of the best projects of the year. His April mixtape, Acid Rap, displayed the Chicago native’s unique sound and skill set as he combines soothing melodies and innovative cadences with creative and impassioned rhymes. Combine his talent with the many cosigns he’s already earned — he was tapped for features by both Lil Wayne and Justin Bieber — and it seems inevitable that this still-unsigned MC blows up in 2014.(Photo: Johnny Nunez/WireImage)
