If you want to know what’s behind your favorite artist’s latest single, breaking sartorial stories or trending entertainment news, you have two options: turn to Google or go to Angel Lenise. The 23-year-old Dallas, Texas, native has always had a knack for conversation and culture and has dedicated her work to building a career in broadcasting.
The creative, charismatic storyteller melded her love of the arts and media at Clark Atlanta University where she received her bachelor’s in mass media with a minor in French. It was there that Angel discovered her love for the written word and the camera. She began modeling and landed her first on-air experience as an anchor for “Newsbreak” on CAU-TV. Finding her television niche, she joined the pop culture crew of The Yard Radio Show and had the chance to interview Fonzworth Bentley, Janelle Monáe and Big Sean, each at the start of their successful careers.
Upon graduating in May 2012, Angel relocated to New York, where she attended Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and received her master’s with a concentration in broadcast. She also stayed true to her print core, writing for Hellion magazine, CollabSociety and Uinterview. Now at Glam Media, she’s had the chance to cover New York Fashion Week and interview the likes of Roberto Cavalli, Olivia Wilde and fashion blogger Bryanboy.
Now, the young lifestyle junkie is continuing full force with her media maven dreams. She’s in the launch phase of her site, BASSandBUST.com, where she’ll blog on high fashion and hip hop, and remains a freelance model in New York City. With BET, she aims to put her on-air dreams into overdrive and become a respected host in the entertainment news realm.
