Sholanty Taylor's Bio

Sholanty Taylor has been performing on and off the stage as early as six years young. It was in the apartment of her hometown, Brooklyn, New York, where she discovered her talents in entertaining others. It started as a passion when she began to reenact scenes from her favorite films and TV shows, by imitating other child stars at that time. By the age of 14, she was already fulfilling her dream to be an entertainer, as she began working alongside the legendary George Faison, the Tony award-winning director behind the Broadway musical “The Wiz.” It was there Sholanty learned how to build and use her talents, unique personality and infinite energy in a positive light, by joining Dr. Faison’s ensemble, “The Respect Project.” This ensemble had the opportunity to tour with the National Black Theatre Festival for Dr. Maya Angelou, where Sholanty held the role as a lead soloist while performing at famous venues for recognized entertainment icons such as Bill Cosby, Phylicia Rashad, Roberta Flack, Lynn Whitfield, Alicia Keys and many more.

In addition to her on-stage roles, Sholanty has been seen on ABC’s Good Morning America, CW’s Maury Show, BET, ABC's What Would You Do If?, Nickelodeon's iCarly and more. She has landed supporting roles in numerous films such as Half Nelson, Don’t Let Me Drown, A Deeper Love, The Art of Love, The Children of Hip Hop, and was casted as a lead for the award-winning TV show pilot The U. In addition to acting, Sholanty has begun to extend her talents through broadcasting, where she’s been credited for doing voice-overs for commercials and T.V. shows such as McDonalds, AT&T and Degrassi.

Recently, Sholanty was cast to join the national tour in the musical Dream Girls, which opens this fall. Along with preparing for her new role on tour, she continues to educate herself through acting and vocal classes, as well as maintaining her focus on fulfilling her dream to be a world-renowned entertainer.
