Apollo Live Frequently Questions


1. How do I audition for Apollo Live?


Print out the application, fill it out completely and bring it with you to one of the auditions. You must bring at least one form of photo ID and at least one form of government-issued ID (for example, you may furnish a birth certificate and driver’s license or a birth certificate and a passport or a birth certificate and a school ID card). Any individuals that fail to bring two (2) forms of identification will not be allowed to audition.  If you are not a U.S. citizen please bring proof of legal residence.


2. Who can audition? 


You must be at least 18 years or older and not be considered a minor in your state of residence, and a U.S. citizen or a legal resident of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia (excluding Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and other commonwealths, territories and possessions) in order to qualify to compete on the show.


3. What do I need to prepare for the audition?


Singers should prepare one song and be ready to sing a cappella (without music) for the producers. 


Dancers can bring background music on a CD and be prepared to perform one routine. Please make sure to bring your own CD player.


Comedians and variety acts should bring anything necessary to perform, except pyrotechnics and animals. 


4. How long will my audition last?


Once in front of the producers, you will be allowed to perform for up to 20 seconds.  The producer will let you know when it is time to stop.  


5. Can I attend more than one audition city?

Yes, if you feel that you had a bad audition, you are welcome to travel to another city and try again.



6. Will there be more audition cities announced at a later date?


No. Auditions are only being held in these 4 cities for our first set of shows, so if you want to audition, please attend one of the already scheduled auditions.


7. What time should I arrive for the audition?


You will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis, so try to get to the auditions early.  However, you are not permitted to get in line any earlier than 2 hours before the start of the audition.


Sign-ins will end 2 hours prior to the close of auditions for that day.


8. Can I bring food to the audition?


No, only water is allowed once you enter the audition location.


9. Can my friends come to watch?


No, only the person or group auditioning will be allowed to enter the audition location.


10. When will I find out if I have been selected to appear on the show?


The producers will notify you via email, mail or phone as soon as a decision is made, but most likely within a month of your audition.
