Raven-Symoné addresses her controversial statements from the Oprah interview: - “I never said I wasn’t Black… I want to make that very clear. I said I am not African-American. I never expected my personal beliefs and comments to spark such emotion in people. I think it is only positive when we can openly discuss race and being labeled in America.”(Photo: Rochelle Brodin/Getty Images for NYLON)

Azealia Banks on cultural appropriation in hip hop and Iggy Azalea's skills: - “That Iggy Azalea s*** isn’t better than any f****** Black girl that’s rapping today… I feel like, in this country, whenever it comes to our things, like Black issues or Black politics or Black music or whatever, there’s always this undercurrent of kinda like ‘F*** you.' There’s always a ‘F*** y’all n*****. Y’all don’t really own s***. Y’all don’t have s***.'”(Photo: Lionel Urman/Splash News)

Meshell Ndegeocello Shakes Up Hip-Hop - Years before it became trendy, neo-soul founding member and singer-songwriter Meshell Ndegeocello came out as bisexual, and even had a relationship with feminist author Rebecca Walker. While Frank Ocean is considered the first male in R&B/hip-hop to “come out” to the public, Ndegeocello is dubbed as the first ever. However, while she stands in solidarity for LGBT rights, she prefers to focus most exclusively on her music. This decision did not mean that the artist had abandoned her LGBT-connection. Her debut album Plantation Lullabies provided a noticeably androgynous persona that the world was not used to seeing from females in hip hop.(Photo: Scott Gries/Getty Images)

#DonLemonOn - CNN news anchor Don Lemon is known to be brashly unapologetic about his comments, no matter how controversial. Last November, Lemon became the inspiration of a new hashtag following his support of the New York Police Department's use of stop and frisk. Using this initial comment as ammunition, the Twitter community created their own commentary on how Lemon might address issues like segregation, slavery and more. Thus, #DonLemonOn was born.(Photo: Cindy Ord/Getty Images for ADCOLOR Awards)
