BET Awards 2008

With enough excitement to illuminate Hollywood, host D.L. Hughley kept the good vibes rolling on June 24, 2008 when the BET Awards aired. Alicia Keys, Marvin Sapp and Kobe Bryant all took home awards on the big day.

Young Jeezy and Kanye West got folks bouncing with “Put On” and Ne-Yo danced his way into every woman’s heart with his performance of his hit song “Closer.” Alicia Keys paid homage to Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes during TLC’s nostalgic and wonderful “Waterfalls” set.

Jill Scott, Anthony Hamilton and Maxwell all contributed to a beautiful tribute for Al Green, who won the Lifetime Achievement Award. Best Actor winners Denzel Washington and Halle Berry brought the charm out during their acceptance speeches.

Known for creating Academy Award-winning scores and award-winning albums, Quincy Jones was presented with the Humanitarian Award by Queen Latifah. Both artists have given their resources selflessly for the good of others.
