The BET Awards have proven to be the best awards show on cable, and from the looks of it, this year's BET Awards isn’t going to be any different. But what’s probably most exciting to me is how the show continues to include gospel music in the main show. (Let’s be honest: Not everybody does it.)
Well, I’m pleased to announce that in this year’s show, gospel will be well represented with performances by Sunday Best (premieres July 10 baby!) judges Donnie McClurkin and Mary Mary, along with Pastor Shirley Caesar, Deitrick Haddon and the Faithful Central Mass Choir.
But it doesn’t stop there, because it’s just not about the veterans this year. Up-and-coming gospel “soul” artist Mali Music will be a featured performer in this year’s Music Matters segment along with Kimberly Nichole—who, from what I hear, and from all my friends that know her, is also a church girl on the low. Ha!
So make sure you watch the 2011 BET Awards on Sunday, June 26, at 8P/7C. Gospel will definitely be in the building!
