BET Awards 2017 | Behind the Lights of Future
Living Humble
Before Future was famous, Nayvadius Demun Wilburn used to sleep on the floor at his grandmother’s house with at least fourteen other people living in the household that only contained three bedrooms. Future was struggling on his own from the ages of 17 to 24. Then he finally got his big break.
Racks on Racks
Future was put on to the rap game by his cousin, Dungeon Family member Rico Wade, and he started by writing for other rappers. He wrote and featured on the song “Racks” by YC, which accrued 25 million views on YouTube and jumped into the top 10 on Billboard's Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop chart.
He Made It Out On Top
Back in the day, before Future was in the music game, he was a full-time hustler. Future got into a situation where he was shot in his hand and it changed his perspective and attitude on life, making him think that any day could be his last. But once he got fully immersed in the music, he took time to turn his outlook on life around and think more positively about living.
#WhatATimeToBe Drake's Friend
Future and Drake’s friendship began when Drake reached out to Future personally over the phone. Future was shocked that anyone from the industry contacted him, and he made it clear that he was not interested in any fake music stuff. But the friendship stayed true, even through a minor hiccup during Drake's tour. The two artists went on to collab on hits like "Where Ya At" and "Used to This," tour together on the Summer Sixteen Tour (one of the highest grossing tours in hip-hop of all time) and even create a commercial mixtape titled What a Time to Be Alive.
No Interviews!
To put it simply, Future is not a fan of interviews. He typically mentions that he's not particularly comfortable participating in a bunch of interviews all day.
Future Is a Family Man
Most may know that Future has a beautiful son with his ex-fiancée Ciara. But a lot of people may not know that he also has other children: four biological kids and an adopted son. He takes care of all his children and loves them dearly!
Future is Actually Not Haitian
This may come as quite a shock to some fans, but despite Future hanging out with a lot of Haitians and his name being Nayvadius, which seems Haitian-esque, Future claims he is not Haitian at all.
Future's Favorite Mixtape
Future's favorite mixtape that he's made is Monster. It's definitely a career-turning moment.
