Her Special Day

Later that year, when Jennifer Hudson made it back to her hometown of Chicago, Illinois, mayor Richard M. Daley declared March 6 as “Jennifer Hudson Day” in the city of Chicago. As one Entertainment Weekly reporter wrote of Hudson performance in Dreamgirls, “When she sang, ‘you’re gonna love me,’ it wasn’t just a lyric—it was a fact.”
