She Has Arrived
Kearney landed on the national track and field scene after leaving the University of Tennessee for the University of Florida in 1988. Not only was she named the 1992 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Coach of the Year, but Kearney was also the first African-American female track and field coach to win an NCAA championship.
