"Vision of Love" - If you had never loved before hearing "Vision of Love," after taking in the raw emotion that Mariah Carey flawlessly delivered you most definitely had a better sense of the true meaning of the emotion. The song (like the majority of her hits) hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts, confirming her diva status early on. (Photo: FOX via Getty Images)

Mariah Carey - Mariah Carey became a pop phenom under the guidance of Columbia Records and eventually signed a $100 million deal with Virgin/EMI, but suffered so severely from exhaustion that she was bought out of her contract just months later. She emerged again on Island Records with the bounce back album, The Emancipation of Mimi.(Photo: Alex Wong/Getty Images)

"Emotions" - Mariah's sophomore album Emotions and the lead single by the same name hit No. 1 on the charts with no effort at all. Also, this was one of the first times that we heard Mariah float up and down the scale hitting the high notes that most hadn't heard since Minnie Riperton's "Lovin' You." What did that do? It made her unforgettable. (Photo: Alex Wong/Getty Images)

"Hero" - "Hero" became one of Mariah Carey's most memorable ballads and has continued to serve as an inspirational song for people worldwide two decades after its release. (Photo: Mark Davis/Getty Images for BET)

Mariah Carey, The Art of Letting Go - It's been a few years since we've heard an album from Mariah Carey, and she hasn't lost her touch — or her voice. She introduced her fourteenth album, The Art of Letting Go, with an array of versions of her song "#Beautiful" (one featuring Miguel, one adding Jeezy and one in spanish), and capped it off with a performance at Hot 97's Summer Jam XX. "Fantasy" - The year was 1995 and Mariah Carey released Daydream and stepped into another realm of super stardom. The lead single, "Fantasy," was successful and No. 1 on the charts solo and as a remix with O.D.B.(Photo: Ouzounova/Splash News)

"One More Try" - Mimi has always credited her success to God, and she takes you to church on this cover of George Michael's 1987 ballad. But while the original is already amazing, Mariah's remake is over the top, bringing the traditionally one-leveled track to a multi-dimensional sonic explosion that only the Diva of Pop can deliver.

"Honey" - "Honey" featured Sean "Diddy" Combs and Ma$e at the height of their musical careers and showed off a sexier side of Mariah that was quite the departure from her image as America's sweetheart. Either way, her talent took her to the top... again. (Photo: Larry Busacca/Getty Images for Caesars Entertainment)

Mariah Carey Is Back - With "#Beautiful" all over the charts, Mariah Carey has once again shut music down and shown why she is the voice of this generation. With golden vocals she'll take the BET Awards stage and although we'd love to see her and Nicki Minaj do something together, she may just do something with confirmed performer Miguel. "Heartbreaker" - Keeping R&B and hip hop close, Mariah Carey enlisted Jay Z to be a part of Rainbow's lead single, "Heartbreaker." She showed that she was older, wiser and not just any fool in love. (Photo: D Dipasupil/FilmMagic)

"We Belong Together" - When power ballads about undying love come to mind, "We Belong Together" is at the top of the list. Without a hint of desperation, Mariah Carey was able to express that there was one man that made her whole and she did so in this epic love song. (Photo: EPA/MATT ROBERTS /LANDOV)

"Obsessed" - In an effort to get her haters off of her case, Mariah Carey told them to go get a life in her No. 1 single "Obsessed."  (Photo: Ivan Nikolov/WENN.com)

"Thirsty," Featuring Rich Homie Quan - If it's one thing Mimi doesn't like, it's a "thirsty" dude who tries too hard. On this trendy track, Mariah makes fun of a dude who thinks he's a boss but is a little too eager to floss on her celebrity status. While the concept may seem a bit frivolous in comparison to Mariah classics, Hit Boy nailed the beat.(Photo: Bryan Bedder/Getty Images)
