Before Carlito Brigante (played by Jay Hernandez) was a reformed man looking to get out of the street life, he was a player in the Harlem drug game during the 60's. While incarcerated, Brigante links up with Rocco (Michael Joseph Kelly) and Earl (Mario Van Peebles), who help him establish a heroin distribution ring after being freed. However, a confrontation between Earl's younger brother, Reggie, and the Bottolota crime family leads to ensuing chaos that could destroy everything that they worked for.
A prequel to the original, Carlito's Way, Rise to Power offers a backlog to the events from the first film and features guest appearances from the likes of Sean "P. Diddy" Combs and Giancarlo Esposito. Tune in on January 20 at 8P/7C for the premiere of Carlito's Way: Rise to Power.
