The Black Girls Rock! 2011 awards is more than just a show that celebrates our brilliance, it reminds us how Black women worked tirelessly to shape the future that we live in today. Icons like Angela Davis, Shirley Caesar, Imani Walker and Malika Saada Saar graced the stage with their words of wisdom, while Tatyana Ali and Taraji P. Henson motivated and inspired us to get up and achieve our dreams.

All set against the background of a gorgeous pink-rose-, purple- and silver-tinted stage, artists like Estelle and Elle Varner had us on our feet with stirring renditions of "Thank You" and "Only Wanna Give It to You," respectively. Melanie Fiona gave the audience her all when she performed "This Time," and Erykah Badu gave one of the most memorable moments of the night with her beatboxing and fan favorite performance of "Apple Tree." Jill Scott added her unique, soulful touch to the night's events. Her empowering spoken-word piece, "Womanifesto," and her anti-hater song, "Hate on Me" brought down the house!

Plus, Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King were the epitome of Black Girls Rock! as hosts of the show. Be sure to check out Black Girls Rock! 2011, Sunday, November 6 8P/7C!
