Run the World (Girls)

In the years since the third wave of the feminist movement, few organizations have done as much in the way of advancing women’s rights as the Rebecca Project for Human Rights. The policy and advocacy group, which was founded in 2003, focuses on a mission statement of “addressing the unacceptable levels of violence, exploitation and poverty impacting women and girls in the U.S. and Africa.” At Black Girls Rock! 2011, co-founders of the Rebecca Project, Imani Walker and Malika Saada Saar, will be recognized for their tireless efforts on behalf of women worldwide.
