Continuing to provide roles for women, Rhimes wrote Crossroads, which saw pop singer Britney Spears make her debut in the film world. The film went on to gross $60 million worldwide.

The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement

Rhimes went on to write the follow-up to the massively success film The Princess Diaries, which she was also massively involved in. While the movie failed to make the impact its predecessor did, Rhimes said the treasure was in working with movie legend Julie Andrews.

ShondaLand

Shonda Rhimes founded ShondaLand, a television production company which originally was created to house the work of Grey’s Anatomy. In the years to follow, it would go on to produce other major hits, including Private Practice, Scandal, How to Get Away With Murder and more.

Rhimes is the creator and executive producer of this hit ABC series. It features an ensemble cast led by Ellen Pompeo as lead character Meredith Grey.

She created Private Practice as a spin-off series to Grey’s Anatomy. The ABC series, which also featured an ensemble cast including Taye Diggs and Audra McDonald, ended in January 2013.

It's Scandalous

ABC ordered Rhimes’s pilot script for Scandal, led by Kerry Washington, which focused on political crisis management in Washington, D.C. The series debuted on April 5, 2012, and is currently in its fifth season.

How to Get Away With Murder
How to Get Away With Murder

Adding to her TGIT lineup — which originally included Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal only — Rhimes executive produces the Viola Davis-led drama How to Get Away With Murder, which became an instant hit. It was officially picked up by ABC in May 2014 and is currently in its second season.
