Sad News, Shoppers!: Bebe Stores Are Shutting Down
Bebe, home to the beloved bandage mini that took over every girl’s closet circa ’08, is closing it’s doors permanently come May. According to CNN Money, the fashion retailer that once boasted 168 locations across the U.S. plans to shut down all of its brick-and-mortar shops. Just this March, they closed 28 of their locations, so retail death was clearly inevitable — although, it’s still not sure whether Bebe will continue to live online.
With the Amazons of the world taking over, Bebe joins the ranks of American Apparel, Wet Seal and a long list of other stores that have had to close up shop in the past year. Just in case, hold onto your teeny black tees with “bebe” — spelled out in rhinestones — across the chest (that is, if you haven’t already tossed them), because they might just become the new vintage or, at the very least, for some younger year nostalgia.
R.I.P. Bebe.
