See Gabrielle Union's Latest Hair Transformation

Her new look only took four hours!

Gabrielle Union is mostly known for her outstanding acting skills, megawatt smile, and flawless skin, but the ageless beauty is also known for her everchanging hairstyles.

Recently, the 44-year-old star of Being Mary Jane has switched her amazing curly tresses into waist-length micro twists. And, if we do say so ourselves, sister girl is rocking the heck out of these braids!

See for yourself below:

“Gabrielle has really been into no heat protective styles,” explains her longtime hair stylist Larry Sims, who also works with Sanaa Lathan, Zendaya, and Mary J. Blige.

“With that in mind, she has to factor that into the characters she plays while working. This look is being tested for an upcoming project,” he explains. “To save time, we crotchet braided the back and braided the top,” Sims shares. “It took four hours altogether. If her full head was braided, it would have taken her upwards of 10 hours.”

Yes, Gabrielle had us fooled — these are crotchet braids, not individuals like we first assumed. “Tiffani Gatlin of @latchednhooked is amazing. She was instrumental in creating this look,” adds Sims.

The intricate style lasts roughly between four to six weeks, pending how frequently you shampoo. “The more it's wet, the quicker the braids will slip,” Sims explains.

While many consider braids as a summer style, Larry wants us to think beyond warm weather. “Braids are considered no heat protective styles,” he says. “Protecting your hair isn't seasonal. It's a lifestyle that you should exercise as often as possible.”
