Cicely Tyson

Actress One of the most respected and accomplished Black actors ever, Cicely Tyson has contributed over 50 years of skill and talent to the entertainment industry. Her work in theater, film and television constitutes celebrated works that range from Roots to The Help.  She's performed in countless classics, garnering Emmy and NAACP Image Awards, Oscar nominations and various other accolades. The ex-wife of jazz legend Miles Davis, she has been venerated by everyone from Oprah Winfrey to Morehouse College. Tyson also has a school named in her honor, which is referred to as the Cicely Tyson School of Peforming and Fine Arts, located in East Orange, NJ.  Nearly 80 years old and she's still exercising her gift, with her latest project including a star role in the horror flick The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia.
