The gospel/soul singer has won two Grammys, recorded countless albums and sang backup for everyone from Elvis Presley to Aretha Franklin. The mother of the legendary Whitney Houston, she recently announced plans of releasing a memoir about the late singer, which will be published by HaperCollins and released February 2013. Houston also performed a tribute to her iconic daughter at the 2012 BET Awards.
