Free

Media Personality/Rapper We all know this beautiful Boston native as the first co-host of BET’s 106 & Park. A product of the Roxbury Center for Performing Arts, Free (born Marie Wright) began her journey into the music world via an internship at a Maryland radio station. After attending a casting at BET, Free was chosen to co-host the network’s new video and music show 106 & Park. Over the next five years, her celebrity rose along with the show’s popularity. As an aspiring singer/rapper, she released her own LP, Free’s World, in 2004. Once leaving 106, Free became a radio personality, hosting and co-hosting programs on such stations as New York’s Power 105 and Washington, D.C.’s WPGC. But recently, she’s returned home to BET, hosting the BET Awards Live Stream. And soon, she will be the host of Lens on Talent 3, a talent competition highlighting new talents in music, dance and film.
