Hyphy is a style of dance born in the late 1990s and early 2000s out of the Oakland Bay Area hip hop scene. Keak the Sneak is responsible for giving the name to the dance, which is characterized by exaggerated movements and high energy. The dance exploded across the nation in the mid-2000s, especially when E-40 released My Ghetto Report Card in 2006. That same year, Hyphy (Go Dumb) was nominated for the BET Hip Hop Best Hip Hop Dance Award.
