Left Eye

Rapper Lisa Nicole "Left Eye" Lopes broke into the music industry as one-third of the platinum-selling girl group TLC. Throughout the '90s, the trio dominated the charts, with Left Eye flexing her skills in songs like "No Scrubs," "Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg" and "Waterfalls." In 1994, she infamously burned down the mansion of her then-boyfriend and NFL star Andre Rison after an argument in which she claimed he was physically abusive. After TLC's third album, which was released amid high tensions in the group, the eccentric MC released her first solo LP, Supernova. During that time, she also appeared on several hits by various artists and assisted girl group Blaque in getting a deal and rising to prominence. Lopes later signed to Suge Knight's Tha Row Records under the alias N.I.N.A. before she was killed in a car crash in 2002 during a trip to La Ceiba, Honduras. In 2007, VH1 premiered the footage captured during the final month of her life called The Last Days of Left Eye and several posthumous compilations have hit the market featuring unreleased and remixed tracks by the late star.
