Outkast

Rappers/Singers/Actors East Point, Atlanta natives Andre 3000 (Andre Benjamin) and Big Boi (Antwan Patton) burst onto the scene with their mixture of dirty south and G-funk music with “Player’s Ball” in 1993. Their classic debut album Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik laid the foundation for a new generation of southern hip-hop, flaunting their outside-the-box lyrics and futuristic beats by Organized Noize. This group has sold over 25 million records and won an Album of the Year Grammy in 2004 for Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. Although both artists have gone on to successful solo careers, there’s no denying the impact of Andre 3000 and Big Boi on modern hip hop, paving the way for many of today’s artists.
