In 2001, Pharrell stepped out as an artist, helping to form the hip hop/rock/funk band N.E.R.D. and releasing his own LP (2006 In My Mind) and hit singles like “Frontin’” with Jay Z. In November 2013, Skateboard P made history with the first-ever 24-hour video for his Oscar-nominated mega-hit "Happy," from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack. The following year he released his long-awaited second solo album, Girl The co-founder of the clothing companies Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream also signed on as a coach on the seventh season of NBC's The Voice.
