PJ Morton

Singer Maroon 5 fans may recognize singer, songwriter and New Orleans-native PJ Morton because he was once the keyboardist for the pop band. Now the former bandmate has signed to Young Money Entertainment/Cash Money Records and is ready to enjoy solo success. Morton has previously collaborated with India.Arie (their song "Interested" won a Grammy in 2002), Jermaine Dupri, LL Cool J, Monica, Musiq Soulchild and Trinitee 5:7. But now, on his 2013 debut album New Orleans, he collaborates with musical legend Stevie Wonder on the lead single "Only One." Wonder is one of Morton's musical influences, as are the Beatles, James Taylor and Donny Hathaway. Such a diverse group of influences, coupled with the fact that his father is gospel singer Paul S. Morton, explains this BET Music Matters artist's eclectic, soulful sound that is hard to categorize.
