Dance The Snap dance was born in Atlanta but started to grow beyond Georgia’s borders around 2006 with the help of hip hop producer Lil Jon. Easy enough to learn, the movements are sharp and quick, engaging the head and the entire body , most importantly the fingers, which snap at the end like exclamation points to a statement. Although Georgians have been doing variations of the dance (which is also called the Rock Wit It, Lean Wit It and the Laffy Taffy) since the early 2000s, the Snap took home the Best Hip Hop Dance award in 2006 during the BET Hip Hop Awards.
