Wesley Snipes was born and raised in New York's South Bronx until his teen years, when his family moved to Orlando, Florida. His first feature film was the Goldie Hawn comedy, Wildcats, in 1986. He had a number of hits in the '90s, including Jungle Fever, White Men Can't Jump, New Jack City and the Blade trilogy. In 2008 Snipes was convicted of tax evasion — he was accused of failing to pay taxes in 1999, 2000 and 2001, resulting in a three-year prison sentence. He began serving his sentence in December 2010.
